The Easel Project: Creating Custom Adaptive Easels
Time & Location
About the Event
This presentation will provide participants with an understanding of how to build an adapted art easel out of widely available, low-cost materials such as single and tri-wall cardboard. The easel project has already been integrated into the curriculum of more than one graduate art therapy program. As a result, a number of custom adaptations have been created for children, adults, and seniors with a range of physical and cognitive disabilities. The presentation will also touch on the following topics: models of disability, invisible disabilities, aging and disability, disability in education, and the disability rights movement.
